Mycelarium Update 1.02: Achievements and Modes
What Mycelarium update 1.02 changed: 19 achievements, Survival and Exploration modes, mushroom shortcuts, the animal tracker and performance work.
Mycelarium launched on 3 November 2026 and received update 1.02 on 5 November. The patch is significant for guides because it added Steam achievements, split the game into two modes, and changed how players interact with mushrooms and animals. This page records what changed, in order, and what it means for the advice elsewhere on the site.
The game is two days old at the time of writing, so the patch history is short and the balance is still moving. Dates and version numbers below are the ones in the official announcements.

Update 1.02 (5 November 2026)
The headline changes:
- Steam Achievements. Nineteen achievements went live, covering growth, mushroom production, animal scares, secrets and the ending.
- Survival Mode. A new mode with no final goal, no evolution tasks and a stricter balance.
- Exploration Mode. The original experience, with fewer animals and more leaf litter.
- Mushroom Shortcuts 1–8. The eight radial-menu mushrooms can be built with number keys.
- Clickable Animal Tracker. Animal icons on the screen edge now jump the camera to the animal.
- Performance optimisation. General improvements, not a specific frame-rate promise.
- New music. Additional tracks in the soundtrack.
The mode split is the change that affects guides most. Advice written for the release build assumes evolution tasks and the ending; that is now Exploration Mode. Survival players should read the game modes guide→ before following any progression advice.
Quick fix (3 November 2026)
The release-day fix covered:
- Performance optimisation.
- Camera teleport controls in the UI.
- Visual fixes.
It did not add content. If you are returning to the game after a break, the quick fix is already included in 1.02.
Launch (3 November 2026)
The launch announcement confirmed the store description: a relaxing incremental exploration game about growing a fungal network, with procedural underground, mushroom automation and no hard fail state. The launch build is the baseline for the original guides.
Demo 2.0 (30 October 2026)
The demo update before launch added:
- The Repeller Mushroom as a counter to hedgehogs.
- New visuals.
- A save system.
- Balance changes.
The demo is a separate build and does not include the 1.02 achievements. It is still a useful tutorial for the controls, but it is not a benchmark for the full game's balance.
When did the Discord open?
The official Discord opened on 1 November 2026, two days before launch. The invite is in the Steam news feed. It is the fastest place to ask about the ending trigger or report a bug, and the developers have been active during the launch window.
What does 1.02 mean for existing saves?
The patch adds systems rather than replacing them. Achievements track actions in the current save; actions completed before the patch may not retroactively unlock, so repeat the action if an achievement does not appear. The mode split applies to new runs, not to a save that already exists.
If you built 20 Predators before 1.02, the counter may not have existed. Build one more after updating to trigger the milestone. The same applies to the animal scares and the tree count.
What is likely to change next?
The launch-window patches suggest the developers are prioritising performance, quality-of-life and mode options. The community's most common requests are better 4K/UI scaling, camera controls and more mid-game guidance. None of those are confirmed for a future patch.
